Burger Town - Will Ferell, MCdonalds, Thriller

For a class project we had to choose an Actor, Location and Genre and then make a premise for a film. I choose Will Ferrel, McDonalds/Fast Food Restaurant, and a Thriller and the Premise of my story involved Will Ferrel playing Ronald McDonald as a sort of Sweeny Todd/Jack the Ripper story where Ronald would kidnap people and cook them up into burgers.

What is a Thriller?:

"Thriller is a genre of literature, film, and television programming that uses suspense, tension, and excitement as its main elements. Thrillers heavily stimulate the viewer's moods, giving them a high level of anticipation, ultra-heightened expectation, uncertainty, surprise, anxiety and terror. Films of this genre tend to be adrenaline-rushing, gritty, rousing and fast-paced."

Who is Will Ferell?:
  • Starred in the comedy films Old School, Elf, Anchorman, Talladega Nights, Stranger than Fiction, Blades of Glory, Semi-Pro, Step Brothers, and The Other Guys.
  •  He has had several guest appearances on Family Guy, where he played the Black Knight
  •   He voiced the title character in the 2010 Dream Works Animation film Megamind.
  • Ferrell launched Funny or Die, a streaming video website where short comedy films are uploaded and voted on by users.

 Where is McDonald's?
McDonald's primarily sells hamburgers, cheeseburgers, chicken, french fries, breakfast items, soft drinks, milkshakes, and desserts. In response to changing consumer tastes, the company has expanded its menu to include salads, fish, wraps, smoothies, and fruit.
The business began in 1940, with a restaurant opened by brothers Richard and Maurice McDonald at 1398 North E Street at West 14th Street in San Bernardino, California.
McDonald's predominantly sells hamburgers, various types of chicken sandwiches and products, French fries, soft drinks, breakfast items, and desserts. In most markets, McDonald's offers salads and vegetarian items, wraps and other localised fare. On a seasonal basis, McDonald's offers the McRib sandwich.
McDonald's restaurants are found in 118 countries and territories around the world and serve 68 million customers each day. McDonald's operates over 34,000 restaurants worldwide, employing more than 1.7 million people. The company also operates other restaurant brands, such as Piles Cafe.

Have you got a good story?
  • Who is the Protagonist?
    • Mark Kamextsu
  • What are they trying to Achieve?
    • To stop Ronald McDonald (Will Ferell) from killing innocent customers
  • Why is it important to the Protagonist?
    • He knows many people who have been kidnapped already and knows he is getting closer to getting caught himself
  • Who is stopping them?
    • Ronald McDonald (Will Ferell), His friends and family, Himself
  • What is at stake?
    • Himself and his friends will be for the chop if he doesn't

Legal:
Because of the Location it is best to make a made-up Restaurant and just make a creepy Mascot to be Ronald McDonald, but i believe that even with all the Legal issues we will find that making this would be a great publicity stunt for McDonald owners which would not only put McDonald's back in the spotlight but also by combining it with some positive influences it could give them more business. Even if they do decline you could make it similar to the way they made 'Escape from Tomorrow' or 'Super Size Me' and make it to show how McDonald's really is.
In the circumstance that we do use an alternative Restaurant we will name the Head Chairman 'Ron Donald' and use some Alternative Storytelling to show the Boom, Bust and Major Events in the McDonald franchise

The Premise:
Set in the 2020s-2010s while McDonald's(or another Restaurant) is still in this boom, Ron Donald is the head chairman of a successful Restaurant Chain and as a result of the stress of working he often abuses his Wife and Son, it is because of this abuse that his Son (Will Ferell) is determined to make his shop the best in the chain so he can gain his Fathers approval. Soon he resorts to desperate measures and kidnaps people who say bad things about his shop and eventually turns them into meat.
Mark Kamextsu's friends have been getting abducted and he wants to find them, the only problem is there is no bodies and no suspects, Mark is on on the Tail of Ron's son but is opening a can of worms which lands him in hot water

Dear Diary - Will Ferell, Ron Donald's Son

Who is the main character? Ron Donald, is a normal shop employee who slow defends into madness after getting forced to work and abusive from his father.
What are they trying to achieve? Ron Donald's goal is to be the best shop owner to please his father, so maybe he will notice him a little more and stop abusing him
Why is this important to the protagonist? He cannot live like this anymore and worries he will really get hurt if this carries on
Who is trying to stop them? Mick Donald and Burger Town CEOs
What is at steak? Him getting arrested

INT -- INTERROGATION

Michel Smith - Foster parent to Ron Donald, Michel works as a CEO for Burger Town and is used to working under pressure and intimidation from years of being harassed by the press

Police Guy - As an integrator he plays a Bad Cop and used force to try and break the suspects

Police Guy
All I want to know is why he did it

Michel Smith
You think I know why--

Police Guy
(SLAMS HANDS ON DESK)
Don't give me that, he is your son. Who else would know him better

Michel Smith
(SIGH)
He isn't my son...

Police Guy
Why do we have no record of this?

Michel Smith
Because it would of embarrassed the company if people found out.

Police Guy
Regardless if he is your real son or not
(PAUSE)
The blood on his hands is also on yours. All we want to do is find out why he murdered those people

Michel Smith
(LEANS BACK AND RUNS HIS HANDS THROUGH HIS HAIR)
I just don't know...

    Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to inform you about a new news show that we would like to begin production on and start broadcasting on March 27th, the Show ‘Southend Local’ which is going to be a factual broadcast for the latest from around the Southend area and some bigger headlines from the rest of the world, This show is targeted at an audience of 40+ but still make it watchable for College and University students when they come home in the early Evening.
By making this news show we are helping inform the Southend Community which will also help promote people to events happening in the area as well as warning them about any dangers on their doorstep, the overall tone of the show will be informative and function like the current BBC news does and use the Southend regional colours of Blue and Yellow in our intro and theme for the set layout, to get all the information out in the 20 minutes of running time the pace would be fairly high with Intros and Outros lasting 5 seconds each with a catchy theme similar to a ring tone alerting the viewer of a change from a VT clip and Studio clips, the dialogue will be formal and the pieces will follow the ‘Inverted Triangle’ way of structuring new stories.
As for the team we have assembled so far we have; Nicola Sinclair as the Producer, Jemma Land as Director, Connor Sadler as Writer, David Neale as First AD and Maddie Govier and Steff Preston as hosts. As a group we are going to look into any Southend exclusive broadcasting stations and possibly get a partnership with ‘ECHO’ the newspaper available for people who live in Southend, this news show is predicted to help give the ECHO more publicity and also help get more people actively looking for events in the area.

    ‘Southend Local’ Details:

    • The first episode will be out on ____________________ to _____________________

    • The running time will be __________ Minutes

    • Hosted by (Signed) _______________________ and ______________________

The final product has changed since this Proposal Letter due to Avalibility, Copyright and Equitment.
